Applications

Designed for detailed finishing, the YG1 86565TN solid carbide finishing end mill features a 3/16″ diameter, 9/16″ length of cut, and 5 flutes with TiN coating. The 45° helix angle combined with high flute count improves surface finish and chip evacuation, particularly in low carbon steels such as 1018 and A36, consistent with finishing best practices. This single-end tool offers controlled reach and stability in tight tolerance work. Its TiN coating paired with five flutes and steep helix reduces edge chipping and enhances wear resistance during light radial stock removal. The tool extends applicability to non-ferrous, stainless steel, and cast iron materials but is unsuitable for HRSA due to coating unsuitability. Avoid using this end mill on heat resistant superalloys (HRSA ISO S) as the coating will fail prematurely. Lacking a corner radius, this tool is not intended for interrupted cuts where chipping prevention is critical.
