The YG1 85584TC finishing end mill, sized 3/8″ with a 1/2″ length of cut and 5 flutes, features a stub length with a 1.33x length-to-diameter ratio to boost rigidity and precision during finishing. Its 45° helix combined with TiCN coating and five-flute design delivers excellent surface finish and efficient chip evacuation on steel and compatible materials. This setup reduces vibration and extends tool life during light radial stock finishing, following recommended parameters for low carbon steels such as 1018 and A36. The synergy of geometry and TiCN coating provides smooth cutting action and fine surface quality in steel machining. Its absence of a corner radius optimizes sharp edge finishes but requires careful handling to avoid chipping in interrupted cuts. Center-cutting capability also allows for plunge cutting, increasing operational versatility.
