Applications

The YG1 07579TC solid carbide finishing end mill, with a 5/16″ diameter and 13/16″ length of cut, delivers balanced reach and rigidity for precise finishing in medium-depth pockets or contours. Featuring a 4-flute design and a 30° helix angle with TiCN coating, it offers stable cutting action that minimizes vibration and enhances surface finish quality on steel and cast iron components. This combination facilitates efficient chip evacuation and wear resistance, ideal for general milling of free-machining steels and some non-ferrous metals.
This tool aligns well with recommended combinations for free-machining steel, where the 4-flute geometry and TiCN coating optimize both speed and cost-effectiveness. Without a corner radius, careful handling is necessary to prevent edge chipping during interrupted cuts, though it excels in smooth finishing passes. Its center-cutting design also permits plunge cutting when required.
Do not use this end mill on heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA) due to coating unsuitability leading to rapid wear. It is not designed for heavy roughing or materials outside its specified range, such as stainless steel or plastics, where other coatings and geometries are preferred.
