Applications

The YG1 86558TF 1/8″ diameter solid carbide finishing end mill with a 1/2″ length of cut delivers rigidity and precision in compact machining operations. Combining a 5-flute design with a 45° helix angle and TiAlN Futura coating, it provides excellent surface finish and efficient chip evacuation during finishing passes on steel and similar materials. This blend reduces vibration and enhances tool life during light radial stock removal, consistent with recommended practices for low carbon steel finishing. This tool performs well in applications requiring fine detail and smooth surfaces, especially in low carbon steel 1018/A36, stainless steel, HRSA, and cast iron. Its lack of a corner radius permits sharp edge cutting but necessitates careful handling to prevent chipping in interrupted cuts. The TiAlN Futura coating improves wear resistance and heat management, supporting high-speed finishing. Avoid using this tool on non-ferrous materials, as the coating is not ideal and will degrade rapidly. Its design and coating are not suitable for aluminum or copper alloys, where different coatings and geometries are necessary for optimal outcomes.
