Designed for machining non-ferrous materials, the YG1 86588 7/16″ diameter solid carbide finishing end mill features a 1″ length of cut with five flutes and a bright coating. Its 45° helix angle promotes smooth cutting action by minimizing built-up edge and enhancing chip evacuation, making it well-suited for finishing wall and floor surfaces, slotting, and pocketing in materials like 6061 aluminum and copper alloys. With a length of cut to diameter ratio near 2.29, this tool balances reach and rigidity effectively for precision work. The polished geometry and large flute valleys help prevent welding and smearing, extending tool life. For hard steels, a coated end mill is generally preferable.
