Applications

This insert supports cutting speeds from 492 to 3281 sfm, feeds ranging from 0.001 to 0.012 in/rev, and depths of cut up to 0.157 in. It is designed for continuous cutting operations only. The positive rake chipbreaker and small 0.008″ nose radius favor finishing to light semi-finishing cuts with good surface finish. It is optimized for ISO N non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper, with secondary suitability for stainless steel. The 55° diamond shape and positive rake provide excellent profiling clearance and low cutting forces, but interrupted cuts are not recommended due to the insert’s relatively weak point angle and low edge strength.
