Applications

The YG1 55565TN finishing end mill boasts a 3/16″ diameter and a 1-1/8″ length of cut, with a 6.0x length-to-diameter ratio that facilitates extended reach while maintaining rigidity for precision finishing on steel. Featuring four flutes and a 30° helix angle, this tool optimizes chip evacuation alongside cutting edge strength, ensuring smooth surface finishes and efficient material removal. Its TiN coating enhances wear resistance and minimizes built-up edge formation, supporting consistent performance in free-machining steel. This tool is well-suited to general milling and slotting in low carbon steels, where the 4-flute design promotes effective chip control without compromising tool life. Lacking a corner radius, it requires controlled feed rates to prevent edge chipping. Its center-cutting design also allows for plunge cutting, broadening its application. Avoid employing this end mill on heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA ISO S), since the TiN coating is not a good match and will deteriorate quickly.
